The video “Campus Chemical Waste: Disaster in the Planning” (1994) was premiered on the steps of the Berkeley City Hall and was seen by both the Berkeley City Council and the Planning Commission This public policy video was made in response to the 1994 plan to place the new University of California Berkeley hazardous waste facility in the Strawberry Canyon watershed.

During that time, one of the many Berkeley citizens to raise concerns over the proposed location of the hazardous waste facility was Berkeley-born David Brower. Brower, a prominent environmentalist and activist, spoke of his concerns to an audience gathered outside California Hall on the Berkeley campus. This July 7th, 1994 campus press conference is a recording of David Brower’s comments.
